CONGRESSMAN RUBÉN HINOJOSA ANNOUNCES FEDERAL GRANT AWARDED TO THE CITY OF EDINBURG POLICE DEPARTMENT
Congressman Rubén Hinojosa (D-TX-15) announced a grant for $19,965 was awarded to the City of Edinburg Police Department by the U.S. Department of Justice through the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program (JAG).
"Congratulations to the City of Edinburg Police Department for receiving the JAG grant award," said U.S. Rep. Hinojosa "JAG grants from the U.S. Department of Justice are about keeping our communities safe and they are directly focused on assisting police officers by providing funds for their various needs in an effort help them perform their duties. Several cities in the 15th Congressional District of Texas have been recipients of the JAG grants and I am very pleased to see that the City of Edinburg is among them."
The JAG funding will be used to purchase law enforcement equipment and supplies for the Edinburg Police Department.
The Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program (JAG) allows states and units of local government, including tribes, to support a broad range of activities to prevent and control crime based on their own state and local needs and conditions.
