CONGRESSMAN RUBÉN HINOJOSA ANNOUNCES FEDERAL GRANT AWARDED TO HIDALGO COUNTY
(JAG award to be used for court personnel costs)
Congressman Rubén Hinojosa (D-TX-15) announced a grant for $66,516 was awarded to Hidalgo County by the U.S. Department of Justice through the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program (JAG) for court personnel costs.
"The U.S. Department of Justice (JAG) grants are very important for local communities and counties because they offer targeted support that ultimately helps our law enforcement officer and our criminal justice system," said U.S. Rep. Hinojosa. "This grant is just one of many JAG grants awarded recently in our 15th Congressional District of Texas. I am very pleased that Hidalgo County is amongst the recipients."
The JAG funding will be used to support criminal justice initiatives and will be used to support Hidalgo County court personnel costs.
The Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program (JAG) allows states and units of local government, including tribes, to support a broad range of activities to prevent and control crime based on their own state and local needs and conditions.
