CONGRESSMAN RUBÉN HINOJOSA ANNOUNCES U.S. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE AWARDS FOR SOUTH TEXAS THROUGH THE BULLETPROOF VEST PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM

Congressman Rubén Hinojosa (D-TX-15) announced the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) through the Bulletproof Vest Partnership (BVP) program awarded $60, 956.40 to cities in South Texas. Additionally, these cities received a total of 209 bulletproof vests. The BVP's main goal is to provide resources for state and local law enforcement in their fight against crime.

"Local and state law enforcement officers risk their lives every day and every night in the line of duty," said U.S. Rep. Hinojosa. "I thank the U.S. Department of Justice for providing our officers with critical resources to protect their lives while they serve to protect our communities from crime."

The funding breakdown as provided by the DOJ:

City of George West--$1,460.07 and 3 vests

City of Harlingen--$3,832.50 and 10 vests

City of Karnes--$2,050.48 and 7 vests

City of Kenedy--$2,636.78 and 9 vests

City of La Feria--$2,556.00 and 8 vests

City of McAllen--$1,043.60 and 20 vests

City of Mission--$13,340.00 and 45 vests

City of Pharr --$12,260.00 and 40 vests

City of Progreso --$3,495.00 10 vests

City of San Diego --$4,900.00 and 14 vests

City of San Juan --$2,929.97 and 6 vests

City of Taft --$2,097.50 and 6 vests

City of Weslaco --$8,354.50 and 31 vests
